Regis Philbin: The cult moderator has died

The American TV icon Regis Philbin is dead. The presenter died at the age of 88.

He was considered one of the TV veterans in the United States. Now star host Regis Philbin has died at the age of 88. American media consistently quote from a family statement. Accordingly, he died last night for natural reasons.

Among other things, Philbin was known for the American version of the quiz show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" (in German "Wer wird Millionär?"), which he moderated from 1999 to 2002. He also led through the first season of "America's got Talent" (in German "Das Supertalent") in 2006. Philbin also made a name for himself as a musician and released several albums.

Record for time in front of TV camera

Born in New York, the Guinness book represents most of the time that a person has spent in front of a television camera. He has held this record at 15,662 hours since 2006. Since then, however, Philbin has added a number of additional hours. In recent years it has become increasingly quiet around Philbin, who has mainly limited himself to short guest appearances (among other things in the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" in 2008). Philbin has been married twice and has four children.
