From this Wednesday, February 14, the “e-permit”, the dematerialized version of your driving license, is accessible to all motorists who request it in the France Idêtes application, revealed The Parisian. This application (available on iOS and Android) developed by the National Agency for Secure Titles (ANTS), will notably allow drivers to present a digital copy of their license during roadside checks.
After an experiment in the departments of Rhône, Hauts-de-Seine and Eure-et-Loir, the dematerialized driving license is accessible everywhere in France. It concerns the new licenses in bank card format and the old ones in pink paper.
No more presenting the old, damaged pink paper license or the bank card format license during police checks. Motorists will be able to present their dematerialized license in order to justify their ability to drive and even in the white zone from this Wednesday. To obtain this “e-permit”, the driver must first have your dematerialized identity cardthe “CNIe”, reveals The Parisian. This virtual identity card remains the reference identity document because it authenticates a citizen thanks to its ultra-secure electronic chip. More than 17 million people hold a CNIe to date. If you do not have it yet, you will first need to obtain it before you can download the digital license on the France Idêtes application.
How to download it?
To obtain your e-license, you will need to have your restricted information statement (RIR), the administrative document which certifies your right to drive, on the My permit points platform, using your license number. It will then suffice to scan the QR code present on this document to have the dematerialized version of your license. A second solution to obtain the precious sesame on your smartphone will be available later this year. It will consist of “importing my driving rights” by remotely querying the database of the road safety delegation.
Furthermore, the motorist can also use the application to produce proof of your ability to drive. “The user creates it in the application, specifies the recipient (renter, employer, etc.) and obtains an official document, secure and easy to share by email or on a messaging application such as WhatsApp,” further specifies Le Parisien.
