Series record for new Eberhofer case

Despite harsh criticism from the original author Rita Falk: “Rehragout-Rendezvous” got off to the best start of all Eberhofer thrillers.
“Rehragout-Rendezvous” had a stronger start in cinemas than the other films from the previous Eberhofer series. The ninth film about the provincial policeman played by Sebastian Bezzel (52) attracted 420,000 visitors to the cinemas on its first cinema weekend. This gave the production company Constantin Film announced in a press release.
With the box office result, “Rehragout-Rendezvous” not only set a new series record, but also set the second-best start of a German film this year. Only “Manta Manta – Zwoter Teil” pulled at the start more viewers (480,978).
Number 1 in the cinema charts in Bavaria and Austria
In Germany, “Rehragout-Rendezvous” entered the cinema charts at number 2, behind the megahit “Barbie”. In Bavaria it was even enough for rank 1. After all, that’s where the (fictional) scene of Niederkaltenkirchen is located. The top spot was also in Austria. In German-speaking countries, the crime comedy has sold 500,000 cinema tickets.
Altogether, the Eberhofer series has now attracted around nine million visitors with nine films. Part one “Dampfnudelblues” came to the cinema in 2013.
Success despite criticism from Rita Falk
The latest Eberhofer thriller had started in the cinema with noise. Rita Falk (59), the author of the book templates, had distanced herself from the recent film adaptation. Opposite the “mirror” she described the film as “incredibly flat, trashy, even vulgar in places.” The story is too far removed from her novel.
The continued existence of the Eberhofer series in the cinema seemed endangered. But the next day, Falk was more forgiving. The only thing she doesn’t like is “Rehragout-Rendezvous”, otherwise she agrees with all the films, the actors and Constantin Film.
