“Baby Reindeer” has become a real success on Netflix since its launch in April and continues to amaze viewers. Like “You”, the stalker series not only has the best chances of staying in the current Netflix charts for a long time, but will soon establish itself as one of the 10 best series ever.

The dark Netflix series is about a stalker named Martha Scott (Jessica Gunning), who is served by comedian Donny Dunn in a London bar. From this point on, she develops a pathological obsession with him and begins to follow the bartender everywhere he goes.

The lawyer Martha manages to interfere in his private life through perfidious means and drives him to despair. Even the London police are no help to the young man when he is looking for a way out of his misery. The title “Reindeer Baby” alludes to a nickname given to him by Martha.

The plot of the seven-part miniseries is based on the true story of Richard Gadd, who plays the lead role in “Baby Reindeer”. The Scottish actor and comedian has already put his experiences with a stalker into practice in a one-man play of the same name, which has now been adapted into a series by Netflix.

In an interview with the men’s magazine GQ, Gadd spoke about his personal ordeal, which has lasted for six years. The series adaptation on Netflix has also made his trauma “extremely emotional” [und] However, one thing in real life turned out completely differently than in “Baby Reindeer”, namely the ending!

In the finale, Martha is sentenced to nine months in prison after she finally admits her guilt. Donny also gets a five-year restraining order against Martha, forbidding her from having any contact with him. The court hearing is the last time the two see each other on the show.

Gadd was able to obtain a temporary restraining order against his stalker, which means she is not allowed to contact him. But she probably never had to serve a prison sentence for her crimes. He told the British daily newspaper “The Times” that he “didn’t want to put anyone who was in such a bad mental state in prison.”

In the talk show “Piers Morgan Uncensored” she tells British presenter Piers Morgan that although she has not seen “Baby Reindeer”, her portrayal of her as an obsessive stalker is wrong.

In his conversation with Morgan, Harvey also addresses Gadd personally and says: “Please leave me alone. Find something to do. Find a real job. I’m appalled by what you’ve done.” You can watch the entire interview in full on the “Piers Morgan Uncensored” YouTube channel:

In the interview, she also announced that she wants to sue Gadd and the streaming service Netflix for this “obscene” and “defamatory” story. It remains to be seen whether the Scottish lawyer will actually be able to prevail with her lawsuit.
