Reinforced controls – shots fired at the border: smuggler caught

Day 1 of the controls from Austria and the Czech Republic to Slovakia: Within eight hours, 120 migrants and seven people smugglers were arrested on their way to us. A political summit on the cause will take place on Monday.

The situation at the borders is coming to a head – nerves are on edge. While the “failed EU asylum and migration policy” will be discussed at the political level at the migration summit in Budapest next Monday (as reported, Chancellor Karl Nehammer will meet Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić), the “march in the golden west” no end. After the Czech Republic, together with Austria, started checks at the border crossings to Slovakia on Thursday night, 120 migrants and seven smugglers were arrested within eight hours. Warning shots were fired. A dangerous incident occurred: one of the illegal smugglers – he was 15 refugees crammed into a van on their way to us – broke through the checkpoint in Brumov-Bylnice-Horne Srnie. He sped past the officers at full throttle. “Then warning shots were fired,” confirms Major General Majer. But the tugboat wasn’t impressed by that. Only in a piece of forest was the final stop. “The aim is to make it clear to the trafficking gangs that there is an obstacle here,” said the Czech Interior Minister. Nehammer: “Stop the wrong migration policy” One of many topics at the Western Balkans summit in Serbia. Nehammer: “We have to stop the wrong migration policy. Only when the Serbian and Hungarian borders are protected will our own border also be protected.” In the meantime, a total of 19 Indians (top nation for applications for protection since August) were returned to Delhi in a first EU-wide charter deportation to Delhi organized by Austria. In fact, they have no chance of asylum here.
