The first part was initially released on Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2012, before being released in an improved version (with more content and fewer bugs) in 2013 under the title Dark Arisen. It can now be found on PC, PS4, Xbox and even the Switch.
Dragon’s Dogma represents a rather unique mix of genres. 100% Japanese game, it draws inspiration from European fantasy for its universe and titles such as Skyrim or Gothic for its open world. It sprinkles all this with a combat system close to beat ’em all like Devil May Cry, even adding a pinch of Shadow of the Colossus. Its flagship feature is its pawn system. Each player creates a main character as well as a pawn, a servant who accompanies them on their journey. The latter can be recruited by other players via a portal, and thus gain experience or items. For his part, the player can also recruit pawns from other adventurers according to his needs. He’s missing a magician, he just has to help himself online.
The story takes place in the kingdom of Gransys. The player plays a character of his creation, a poor fisherman whose heart has been stolen by a dragon. It’s up to him to go on an adventure to recover it and destroy the threat at the same time. A pretext scenario for an epic quest in a vast open world filled with side quests and monsters to slay.
Dragon’s Dogma has enjoyed commercial success over the course of its reissues and acquired cult status among gamers. However, Capcom took a long time to get a sequel in the works. What platforms is Dragon’s Dogma 2 released on?
Dragon’s Dogma is released on current consoles, namely the PS5 and Xbox Series X. He arrives also on PC, via Steam.
This is a 100% “new gen” game, it is therefore not planned for the PS4 or Xbox One, nor even for the Switch.
What is the price of Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is sold in two editions: classic and Deluxe. The latter brings some cosmetic elements and objects into the game.
On consoles, the basic edition is sold 74.99 euros while the Deluxe version is priced at 84.99 euros. On PC, the basic edition is 64.99 euros while the Deluxe version is 74.99 euros.
What is the story of Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Dragon’s Dogma 2 tells the story of the Insurgent, a character created by you. At the start of the game, he has his heart stolen by a dragon, and his mission is to get it back and then save the world… If this reminds you of the synopsis of the first part, that’s normal! Dragon’s Dogma 2 is not a sequel to the first game, but a rewrite, like the different parts of Zelda which, ultimately, always tell the same story.
However, Capcom promises that the narration of this sequel will be more advanced than in the 2012 game, with political intrigues which will take on greater importance within the scenario. Dragon’s Dogma 2 being a rewrite of 1, it is not necessary to have done the latter to understand everything. It’s completely useless! Capcom’s new game aims to attract fans of the first game, but above all a fresh audience. So don’t panic if you haven’t done your homework.
What is the gameplay like in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Dragon’s Dogma 2 resumes the gameplay of the first part, while greatly improving it. It is a third-person adventure game where the player operates in a vast open world. As in any good RPG, we have an epic main quest, but also a multitude of side missions to complete.
The particularity of Dragon’s Dogma 2, it’s his ultra nervous combat system, and above all very different depending on the classes (ten in total). For example, a warrior rushes into the crowd and slashes with his sword, the thief must climb on gigantic enemies to reach their weak point, the mage and the archer spray their opponents from a distance and the conqueror uses techniques of all schools.

Even more, like Breath of the Wild, it is possible to use the environment to your advantage. For example, to kill a huge troll that is blocking your way, you can lure it onto a wooden bridge that spans a cliff before destroying it. No more bridge, no more troll either.
Pawns make their comeback in this opus. Once again, your servant (created by you) will be able to go on adventures with other players, bringing back experience or objects. Capcom specifies that these characters will have even more characteristic traits than in the first game. For example, some will speak foreign languages. In a promotional video, a pawn can be seen instantly translating the dialogue of an elf quest giver. Without him, it is impossible to communicate.
Finally, Capcom promises a gigantic and very varied map. We will travel through Vermund, the kingdom of men, the land of the elves, but also Battahl, the desert land of the leonins (tiger men). Territories roamed by monsters, each larger and more ferocious than the next.
