A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at a construction site in Marchegg, Lower Austria, in the Gänserndorf district. A Slovakian construction worker was hit by an iron bar and died at the scene of the accident.
Any help came too late for the 37-year-old construction worker after he was hit in the upper body by an iron bar. It had become detached from a crane during transport. The worker colleagues present immediately rushed to the victim and carried out first aid measures, but without success. The fatal accident occurred on a construction site of the Breitensee underpass on the Marchegger Ostbahn. The man was responsible for instructing the crane work. According to ÖBB, the labor inspectorate has already been informed of the tragic incident.
