Relic Entertainment in turn lays off

After more than ten years in the Sega family, Relic Entertainment became independent just a week ago. A new status which unfortunately does not come without consequences.

Indeed, according to the company’s LinkedIn page, the studio had to decide to announce a wave of layoffs among its employees. A difficult decision taken, according to the press release, with a view to offering the best possible chance of survival to Relic Entertainment.

In total, 41 people will be impacted by this new series of layoffs. The studio, however, assures that it will not let down its former collaborators. And is currently working to offer them severance pay, extended social benefits as well as outplacement support options.

Remember that this is not the first time that Relic Entertainment has found itself having to reduce its workforce. As of May 2023, Sega had already laid off more than 120 people working at the Canadian studio. It remains to be hoped for the health of the company and for its employees that this is the last series of layoffs.
