Remedy Entertainment buys the rights to its Control license

After Alan Wake, Remedy Entertainment continues to want to regain control of its licenses. The studio announced that it had bought back all the rights to its series
Control to the publisher 505 Games for the tidy sum of 17 million euros.

A certainly impressive amount which corresponds to the amount spent by 505 Games so far for the development of
Project Condor and of Control 2. Indeed, the acquisition of rights by Remedy includes the entire license Control. So the first supernatural third-person shooter released in 2019 returns under guard. But also affected are the sequel announced in November 2022 and the multiplayer spin-off.

The publishing agreement between Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games therefore ends immediately with respect to Control 2 and of
Project Condor. On the other hand, the editor will continue his role until December 31, 2024 for the 2019 title.

It remains to be seen what Remedy intends to do with its license. We remember that in 2019, the studio acted in the same way by recovering the rights toAlan Wake to Microsoft for 2.5 million euros. Control could therefore, just as Alan Wakebenefit from a remastered treatment.

In all cases, the outputs of Project Condor as well as Control 2 are still far away if the latest news is to be believed. Last October, Control 2 was confirmed to still be in the draft stage.
