Removing Hair Color From Skin: Top Tips

Do you want to change? Then a new hair color is just the thing! However, if you take action yourself, you should be aware that a little color can quickly go wrong. The best tips for removing hair color from your skin are here.

Coloring yourself is fun and also saves money – but the endeavor quickly becomes a mess, the paint ends up where it shouldn't … and in the end, spots of color become noticeable on the face, hands and arms. But that's not a big deal, because the hair color can be removed from the skin with a few home remedies. Basically, however, a distinction is made between tips for removing the paint on the facial skin and the rest of the body. This is because the facial skin is more sensitive and therefore needs to be treated particularly gently.

Remove hair color from the skin on the face

  • Vaseline: Before applying the hair color, you can preventively apply petroleum jelly to the area around the hairline. The color does not get to the skin, but sticks to the petroleum jelly, which you can easily remove from the skin after coloring your hair with a damp cloth.
  • Baby oil: You can gently rub off paint residues on the skin of your face with baby oil. If the desired effect is a long time coming, leave the oil on overnight and remove it the next day with a cotton ball. Alternatively, oily make-up removers or facial cleansing wipes are also suitable.
  • Toothpaste: This method is suitable as an abrasive. Spread a small amount of toothpaste over the stain and gently rub it over the hair color area for a maximum of one minute. Then take it off with a damp cloth and wash your face thoroughly with plenty of warm water. Caution: Do not let the toothpaste come into contact with your eyes!

Tip: Then always moisturize the skin with a moisturizer.

Caution: Avoid eye contact with all agents!

The skin outside of the face is not as sensitive. It can therefore be treated with the same means as on the face or alternatively with the following home remedies:

  • Detergent: Apply detergent (without perfume and dyes!) To the skin and massage it in. Then rinse it off with warm water. Repeat the process until the hair color has completely disappeared.
  • Baking Soda, Dish Soap and Lemon: Put two teaspoons of baking soda, two teaspoons of dish soap (mild) and a squirt of lemon juice in a small bowl and mix thoroughly. Apply the mixture to your skin with a damp rag and rub over the stain of paint. Then rinse the skin off with warm water. Don't forget to moisturize your skin afterwards!
  • Petroleum jelly overnight: If the hands are very badly discolored, you can cream them with Vaseline in the evening, put on cotton gloves and let the product work overnight. Remove the next day with a damp cloth and wash your hands.
  • Lemon juice: Take a lemon half and sprinkle some salt on it – this way you have a peeling right away. Rub the lemon over the skin and let the home remedy take effect briefly. Rinse the area with water.

Note: After the treatment, moisturize the skin to prevent it from drying out.
