Even before a possible ministerial reshuffle, Renaissance executives are wondering. This Wednesday morning, at 10 am, at the headquarters of the presidential party, several deputies and senators were invited to reflect around their secretary general Stéphane Séjourné on the strategy to adopt in relation to the party of Éric Ciotti, Les Républicains.
Threats of motion of censure as an electric shock
This will be the “central theme” of this meeting, reports a party official. At Renaissance, the recent remarks of the boss of the LR deputies Olivier Marleix, then of the President of the Senate Gérard Larcher, evoking the possibility of a motion of censure against the government on immigration or on the budget caused “a click”. “We must be aware of the double risk of motions brandished by LR”, we explain on the side of rue du Rocher, where the party’s headquarters are located. “We must share this observation internally and find the way in which we respond to it collectively.”
Because the threat is taken seriously: “A motion of censure would lead to dissolution”, fears a deputy favorable to an alliance with LR. “They have a weapon in their possession,” concedes another. “Now we have to find the right answer to neutralize them.” But if this has to go through an alliance with LR, a number of historic walkers from the ranks of the left have already expressed their disapproval.
