The artist and member of the rock and folk group Cowboys Fringants took his last breath on November 15, 2023 at the age of 47, following prostate cancer. A disappearance which greatly saddened Renaud. “I cried when I learned of his death, I knew he was ill, I thought of him a lot, he told the Canadian newspaper. I’ve been listening to all the Cowboys Fringants albums over and over for several months.” The star of French song said he was a fan of the group, whom he had planned to see on stage when they came to France in 2024: “I didn’t know their repertoire at the time, but I immediately loved this singer, he was a great guy. The words, the music… everything about the Cowboys Fringants songs touches me a lot. I even had my tickets to go see them in France next March.“
Renaud’s tribute to his friend
Renaud met Karl Tremblay in 2007, in Canada. The singer performed on the Plaines stage at the Quebec Summer Festival, scheduled just before the appearance of Cowboys Fringants. This year, he returned to the public and the stage for many months, performing from January 24 to August 28, 2023 in several cities in France, with some dates quickly selling out. The star will perform a few dates in France in December, before flying to Canada in May 2024, to the land of his friend Karl Tremblay.
