Renaud: his little tackle to his friend, Jean-Jacques Goldman


In an interview with the Sunday newspaper on May 8, Renaud confided in his state of health and his joy of being able to sing again. The singer also took the opportunity to gently tackle another legend of French music: Jean-Jacques Goldman.

On May 11, renaud will celebrate its 70th anniversary. On this occasion, the singer has just released a new covers album, titled Métèque. An unexpected comeback for many fans. And yet, on this record, the artist’s voice appears better than on his last records, even if he would have liked it to be “less rocky”. To achieve such a result, Renaud had to make a radical decision: to considerably reduce his cigarette consumption. For this record, I went from four packs to one pack a day.”he confided in an interview with the JDD this Sunday, May 8.

In addition to tobacco, the interpreter of morgan of you also managed to break away from his addiction to alcohol. “Not a drop for a year. I still have little temptations, but I’m holding on. I have paid my tribute. When I think of how many times I drove home with 2.5 grams in my blood… There must be a god for drunks!”he continued with our colleagues.

Renaud: “It could be that in a year I will give concerts again for my audience”

And this Wednesday, Renaud will celebrate his 70th birthday. A birthday that he also wanted to celebrate the day before on France 2 in prime time. A rebirth for the one whose state of health finally seems to be getting better. “I had heart surgery last year. I had a stent put in because of a clogged artery. Since then I’ve been doing very well”, he assured, adding that he even plans to go back on stage. “It’s no longer my age, but iIt could be that in a year I will be giving concerts again for my admirable audience”. In the meantime, Renaud has taken up his pen again to write new titles. I already have two new songs, including one on George Floyd : Eight and a half minutes to die”, revealed the singer, before expressing his joy at succeeding in rediscovering a taste for writing: “When I manage to put the end word to a text, I am happy”. Finally, Renaud confided to the JDD his desire to do even more, not failing to place a small tackle on another very famous French artist. “I would like to be more productive, even if I am a little more than Jean-Jacques Goldman, he said, with obvious affection for his friend who decided to stop his career in 2004. As far as Renaud is concerned, however, the time for retirement has not yet come, for our greatest happiness !
