Renault continues to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its iconic R5!

This now involves a “Diamond” version, developed with Pierre Gonalons.

The Renault 5 also in Diamond mode

At the start of the year, Renault exhibited its all-new electric Renault 5, a particularly attractive concept that will go into production in a few years. A few days ago, the manufacturer unveiled an astonishing K7 player in the colors of its R5, and now Renault is continuing its nostalgic line, with this astonishing Renault 5 Diamant.

This is a concept car developed with the French designer Pierre Gonalons, which aims to ” reinvent this iconic model “. Let us remember that the year 2022 marks the 50e anniversary of the Renault 5, a model that sold over 5 million units worldwide between 1972 and 1984.

In concrete terms, this Renault 5 Diamant retains the characteristic lines and iconic shape of the car marketed by Renault in 1972, but stands out under the bonnet with a 100% electric engine.

On the look side, we find here a very refined bodywork, with the added bonus of headlights and lights that have been ” faceted like precious stones “. A Renault 5 Diamant which presents a three-coat paint, made of golden pigments on a pink base, and covered with a frosted varnish.

On board, Pierre Gonalons has played the card of simplicity. The door handles and window controls, as well as the gear lever are made from a truncated sphere.

Electric motor… and marble flywheel?!

The steering wheel is produced with marble on carbon, and despite a somewhat enigmatic look, the whole thing remains perfectly functional. Note that a fingerprint reader is used here to unlock the vehicle doors.

Renault explains: After gathering communities of enthusiasts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube, and having recently launched its official TikTok and Pinterest pages, Renault has decided to enter the world of NFTs. Thus, as part of this project, Renault and Pierre Gonalons will also develop a collection of numerous NFTs inspired by the Renault 5 Diamant which will be unveiled in September. “.

This Renault 5 Diamant will also be auctioned off at the end of the year (along with its double in NFT), and the profits will be donated to Give Me 5, a new brand social responsibility project dedicated to younger generations.
