Renault’s success in the 1990s, the Scénic minivan gradually ceded its market share to SUVs with a more dynamic style. A family vehicle par excellence, the Renault Scénic must now be renewed to meet the needs and demands of an ever more demanding market. Having become 100% electric and gradually changing into an SUV, the minivan is to be presented from September 4 to 10 at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, where it will be visible to visitors.
A more family-friendly Mégane E-Tech
The first element that Renault had to update concerns the aesthetics of the Scénic. Now obsolete, the round allure of the minivan swaps its curves for more taut lines and a style incorporating the brand’s new visual identity, initiated by Gilles Vidal, who worked for Peugeot before becoming Renault’s designer.
We thus find the large faceted grille and its fangs, signing the exclusive aesthetic of Renault.
On the engine side, the Renault Scénic should take over part of the technical basis of its little sister, the Mégane E-Tech. Unsurprisingly, we should find the 220 horsepower engine accompanied by a 60 kWh battery. A more enduring version would also be planned, based on the 87 kWh battery of the Nissan Ariya.
On the other hand, we will have to wait a little longer before getting our hands on additional technical details, but above all on its prices, which will largely determine the future of this car.
