As you know, we are still waiting to know the different models in the R5 electric range, without forgetting the prices of Renault’s future electric city car. According to previous statements from the diamond brand at the end of 2023, this new R5 should however be negotiated at around €25,000. An even cheaper version, called Legend, should arrive in 2025 with an entry ticket of less than €20,000.

But fortunately, this mystery around the prices and the R5 range must end in May 2024 during a special conference given by the manufacturer (the exact date is not yet known). In the meantime and just to spice things up ahead of this event, the French company has just presented a new special version of its compact wattage: the R5 Roland Garros.

The electric R5 with Roland Garros sauce

As a reminder, Renault has been a partner of the famous tennis competition since 2022. And while the tournament is due to open its doors this May 20 until June 9, the French manufacturer intends to take advantage of the event to put your R5 in the spotlight. To do this, it will have a 150 m² stand and of course, this special edition will be the star.

But what’s new in this Rolland Garros version? First of all, it will be declined in four exclusive colors:

  • pearly white
  • night blue
  • starry black
  • matt shale gray

According to Renault, these colors go perfectly with the satin chrome-look roof trim and the 18″ “Nut” rims with glossy black diamond coating. We then find on the base of the front door a Roland Garros logo in a “Saint André Cross” pattern, in homage to the architect of the stadium.

A great version for tournament fans

The interior is not left out with exclusive light gray upholstery made of 100% recycled textile, associated with areas treated with openwork mesh. The whole is also enhanced by lateral supports covered with blue TEP. We then find the tournament logo on the front seat backs. Note that this textile also covers the door panels and the dashboard strip. The latter also houses a backlit area with the name “Roland Garros Paris”.

The references to the tournament don’t stop there. For good reason, the central console integrates an induction charging mat for smartphones manufactured in particular with… clay powder! Let us add that the floor mats also feature the ocher color characteristic of Rafael Nadal’s favorite court.

Concerning purely technical information, you will unfortunately have to do without it. On the other hand, Renault has confirmed that this special model will be offered for sale in 2025. Of course, the price remains a mystery.
