Before its full presentation scheduled for September, Renault is unveiling some images of its future fully electric Scénic model. Unsurprisingly, the vehicle is an aerodynamic looking SUV, really trendy at the moment and rather close to the original concept car from last year.

The future Scénic will be presented at the Munich Motor Show on September 4 and will be available in dealerships from 2024. Despite the slight camouflage that persists in the photos given by the manufacturer, it is clear that the car is very close to the concept car Scénic Vision (picture below). The old plump and clumsy Scénic model seems very distant to us now and Renault clearly affirms a more futuristic design. Its official name is for the moment “Scénic E-Tech electric” and it is a rival of the future Peugeot 3008 and the Volkswagen ID.4.

A distinctive design

On the design side, we feel that the designer Gilles Vidal has been there. It is partly thanks to him that Peugeot affirmed its aesthetic shift a few years ago. Director of the brand’s style from 2010 to 2020, he then joined the Renault teams, still in design. We therefore clearly feel the influences of Peugeot in the design of this Scénic. It will please, or not. Some will say that it is sorely lacking in originality and that it will drown in the mass of other SUVs, when others will love the result.

The overall styling of the vehicle is very angular, and it appears to be lined with many edges. Maybe to give it a more “sporty” look? It will also be equipped with the brand’s new light signature, in the shape of a half-diamond. These new headlights will give a real original side to the front face.

The interior has not yet been unveiled, but we already know that the Scénic E-Tech will have the same L-shaped multimedia interface as that of the Mégane E-Tech. We can therefore expect a sufficiently comfortable, spacious interior and an easy-to-use infotainment system. Renault had already moved upmarket on interior services with the Mégane, the Scénic should therefore be no exception.

Under the hood: decent performance and good battery life

This small SUV will be entitled to two different engines: one of 150 hp and the most powerful which goes up to 220 hp. It is based on the CMF-BEV modular platform, which it will share with many other Renault group vehicles, from small city cars to SUVs.

According to initial information, the Scénic E-Tech will be offered with two batteries. At the entry level, one of 60 kWh, which will be sufficient for daily journeys. The second will produce around 90 kWh and offer a theoretical range of 600 km. Note that this higher-end battery version already equips the Nissan Ariya.

It will therefore be necessary to wait a little to fully discover this Scénic E-Tech. For the moment no price has been announced, but we know in any case that it will be manufactured in France in the Renault factory in Douai. This is where the iconic Laguna, Espace or Talisman came from. It is from the same factory that the long-awaited Renault 5 electric will also come out. Let’s hope this will bring luck to the Scénic E-Tech!
