After MG and Fiat, it is Renault’s turn to get ahead of the government and in turn offer its “social leasing”. Indeed, the diamond brand has just announced its long-term rental offer at €100 per month on the Twingo E-Tech. So, good deal or not?
As you may know, Emmanuel Macron evokes a flagship proposal in March 2022 during his campaign to regain the head of the country: the famous social leasing to obtain an electric car at 100 € per month. Since the announcement, the government has clarified the contours of the measure: 100,000 electric cars will be affectedfor an envelope estimated at 50 million euros for the State (the first year at least).
However, at the time of writing these lines, the device has not yet been set up. As a result, several manufacturers have decided to take the lead and in turn offer their own “social leasing”. The Chinese brand MG was the first to draw with a long-term rental offer on the electric MG4. In the process, Fiat followed suit with a similar formula on the 500e, the electric version of its famous city car.
Renault in turn offers its electric car at 100 € / month
And now it’s Renault’s turn to join the dance. Indeed, the diamond brand has launched a promotional offer on the 100% electric Twingo E-Tech. From July 1 to August 31, 2023, it is therefore possible to obtain the watted compact from €100 per month. As with the two competitors mentioned above, this is a LLD, a long-term rental. As a reminder, the Twingo E-Tech would be one of the models eligible for the government’s offer according to recent revelations from Capital.
In other words, at the end of the 37 months, the vehicle must be returned in good condition, unless want to pay a fortune in restoration costs. Be careful however, it should be specified that it will first be necessary to pay a first rent plus €9,000. Of course, it is possible to reduce the bill via the ecological bonus of €5,000 (or €7,000 if your reference tax income per unit is below €14,090) and the scrapping bonus of €2,500 € if you want to get rid of your old vehicle.
An interesting offer, but not at the level compared to MG and Fiat
For this rate, customers will be able to claim the Authentic version, the entry level. In this finish, the Twingo has an electric motor unit with a power of 60kW (81 hp), while the battery has a capacity of 22 kWh. In mixed WLTP cycle, this model offers a range of 190km. More than enough for daily trips.
We will appreciate the presence of the charger AC 22kW, while the radio, the electric front windows, the automatic ignition of the lights, the speed limiter, the on-board computer or the heated rear window are part of the standard equipment. On the other hand, no air conditioning… To choose, the offer offered by Fiat on the 500e is more attractive since the city car has automatic air conditioning, keyless start and other options not available on the Twingo.
