Renault: Renault sees synergies with Nissan in 11 countries

by Gilles Guillaume

PARIS (Reuters) – Renault sees potential synergies with Nissan in the electric vehicle charging solutions business in eleven European countries, the managing director of Mobilize Power Solutions, a subsidiary of the diamond group, told Reuters on Thursday.

“We are in discussion on all of the (…) eleven countries where we are present, the discussion is open and after that, it’s up to Nissan to decide”, said Nicolas Schottey during the Autonomy Mobility summit of new mobility. , in Paris.

Discussions have already advanced in France, where the 7 kW electric terminal that a customer can have installed at home to accompany his Nissan electric vehicle is now provided by the Mobilize subsidiary of the Renault partner.

Nissan Europe declined to comment on ongoing discussions until a decision is made.

Renault and Nissan presented on February 6 a light version of their alliance, more than twenty years old in order to gain flexibility and stay in the race for electrification.

The French car manufacturer, which has multiplied partnerships with third-party companies for the past year, will in this context reduce its stake in Nissan, while continuing to focus on the synergies offered with its Japanese partner but also Mitsubishi, the third partner of the alliance. .

In addition to charging solutions, the three partners are also studying synergies in financing services.

Mobilize Financial Services, Renault’s specialized subsidiary, already works for Nissan brands all over the world with the exception of the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Australia, Thailand and Turkey, where the Japanese group has proprietary captive financing.

In France, Mitsubishi optimized its financing services at the beginning of March by replacing its two service providers with a single one, Renault Mobilize, thus following in the footsteps of Nissan.
