Renault sets its sights on hydrogen and opens a fuel cell factory in France

Nine months after its creation, Hyvia (Renault Group/Plug Power) inaugurates its first factory.

The plant will notably produce fuel cells that will power future Renault vehicles.

A first factory in Flins for Hyvia

Hyvia, the joint venture of Renault Group and Plug Power dedicated to hydrogen mobility, today announces the opening of its first factory within Refactory, in Flins. Initially, the plant will assemble fuel cells, including a 30 kW model that will power the future Renault Master H2-TECH.

A 3,000 m² company and a team highly skilled promises Renault, with operators, managers and technicians from the Flins plant. By the end of the year, the fuel cell assembly and test line will reach a capacity of 1,000 units/year.

The 30 kW fuel cell is a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) technology, based on Plug Power technology. ” The electrons go to an external circuit, generating a flow of electricity that powers both our 33 kWh battery and our 57 kW electric motor explains Hyvia.
