(Boursier.com) — Luca de Meo wants to be optimistic. The boss of Renault believes that his group is on the right track thanks in particular to its forced development in the electric market. “The current success of the electric Megane E-Tech, with 25,000 sales in three months, shows that we are on the right track. My job is to project Renault into the future, and in Europe the future is electric,” says thus the director general of the manufacturer in an interview granted to the ‘JDD’.

“The democratization of the electric car will take place in Europe and involves products at affordable prices. We have been going electric for twelve years and are putting in place the conditions for the Renault brand to be 100% electric by 2030” , adds the manager. If Renault now sells its more expensive vehicles, Luca de Meo nevertheless believes that “Renault is a popular brand and must remain so”: “our cars have more value, really more, and the customer will have to pay for his car at the corresponding price” .

While the diamond manufacturer has just unveiled solid interim results and raised its annual objectives despite a lackluster context, the manager underlines: “our performance in the first half and our annual objective which has been revised upwards should silence those who said that Renault could not survive”.
