Renaulution, chapter 3: Renault is reorganizing its activity around five pillars


For two years, the Renault automotive group has been in the midst of “Renaulution”, a shift intended to rethink its approach to the mobility of tomorrow. After the announcement of an electrification strategy and the presentation of the group’s future models, the diamond firm is refocusing its economic activity around five pillars, defined by the group as specialized value chains.

We intend to position ourselves faster and stronger than the competition in the new automotive value chains: electric vehicle, software, new mobility and circular economy. Thus, the organization is evolving with a priority given to partnerships and cooperation, whether in the field of the automotive industry or in technology; Another novelty, the group’s activity will no longer be articulated around its brands (Dacia, Alpine, Renault, Mobilize), but around five pillars of business development: Ampere, Alpine, Mobilize, Power and The Futur Is Neutral.

Each of them will have its governance, its income statement and its specialized teams.

  • Ampere will be dedicated to the electrical and software business;
  • Power will concentrate its activity on thermal and hybrid vehicles under the Renault, Dacia and Renault LCV brands (light commercial vehicles);
  • Alpine is defined as “an exclusive, zero-emission and global brand, with motor racing as its DNA“;
  • Mobilize is built around the activities of the group’s financial captive (Mobilize Financial Services), subscription services but also new mobility solutions;
  • The Future Is Neutral will focus on the circular economy, from materials research to battery recycling.

At the same time, we learn that Renault is joining forces in a 50/50 entity with the Chinese giant Geely for its thermal and hybrid engine technologies, with a view to expanding into North America and China. Dacia, which aims to increase its margin by 15%, will attack the C segment with the Bigster and two other vehicles. Engines adapted to alternative and synthetic fuels are planned, as well as a progressive electrification of the range.

Based in France, Ampere will be a full-fledged automaker with around 10,000 employees, including 3,500 engineers. The Renault 5 Electric, Renault 4 Electric, Scénic Electric and two other vehicles are expected by 2030. Alpine is not to be outdone, with total electrification being planned from 2026. A new all-electric A110, a B-segment sedan and a C-segment crossover are in the works, but the Dieppe manufacturer is also planning, to satisfy its international ambitions — particularly in the markets of North America and China — two vehicles (a priori SUVs) in segments D and E.
