Spotify users can now listen to Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen: in their joint podcast "Renegades: Born In The USA".

Hardly anyone expected this round of talks: On Monday evening, Barack Obama (59, "A Promised Land") and Bruce Springsteen (71, "Hungry Heart") had the first two episodes of their podcast "Renegades: Born In The USA" on Spotify put online. Renegade means something like "the renegades" or "deserters". The talks cover topics such as belonging, fatherhood, marriage, modern masculinity, and America's current situation.

In a trailer that Obama published on Instagram, you can see the two of them recording the podcast as well as photos and video clips from their lives and their friendship. The former US president and the musician have been friends since meeting on Obama's 2008 campaign tour. "On the surface, Bruce and I don't have much in common. But over the years we've found that we feel a lot the same way. Be it at work, with family or America," Obama said of the connection and podcast.

The first episode is entitled "Outsiders: An Unlikely Friendship" and revolves around the friendship between the two, their difficult relationships with their fathers and growing up as outsiders. In the second episode "American Skin: Race in the United State" they discuss racism and their own experiences with it. A total of eight episodes of the podcast are planned, which will be produced by the production company of Barack and Michelle Obama (57).
