“Rentnercops”: ARD series goes to the finale

That was it with the “retired cops”. The final season of the TV series will be released on March 27th. After more than ten years, ARD is ending the comedy crime film with Bill Mockridge (76) and Hartmut Volle (70), as the broadcaster announced. In six episodes, the two actors slip into the roles of the old detective inspectors for the last time. The final season runs on Wednesdays at 6:50 p.m. on Erste or in the ARD media library.

The “retired cops” leave the TV series satisfied

“You should leave when it’s most beautiful,” says Mockridge about the ending: “I’m very grateful that ‘Rentnercops’ has thrilled viewers for so many years.” Volle also likes to think about her time on the TV series: “I enjoyed every day of filming. We grew together as a team and I am very happy to have helped shape this wonderful series.”

The tension rises: Bielefelder and Schmitz are arrested

In the new episodes, the pensioner detectives have to uncover several murders. But that’s not the tip of the iceberg: Reinhard Bielefelder (Mockridge) and Klaus Schmitz (Volle) are arrested. Now the police department has to prove their innocence and uncover the ambush. Can the real perpetrator be found?

“The recipe for success of ‘Rentnercops’ is the mixture of comedy and crime,” says producer Peter Güde. The crime series has been around for over ten years. Mockridge and Schmitz have mastered more than 80 cases together. Now the two of them are going into their well-deserved retirement.
