Replaced: the cyberpunk game still postponed, “developing a video game is difficult” for the studio

During the’E3 2021, Sad Cat Studios unveiled its first video game, Replaced, a title with a retro aesthetic and atmosphere cyberpunk which will mix action and platform. A game then expected the following year, but the Belarusian studio has already postponed Replaced to 2023, and the game has been talked about only in Game Awards 2022 with a very nice trailer of gameplay.

We are already halfway through the year 2023, and information about Replaced are still rare. Today, Sad Cat Studios takes the floor to confirm what everyone already knew deep down: Replaced is postponed to 2024, without further details. In a statementthe developers obviously thank all the fans for their support since the first presentation of the game, but admit that “developing a video game is difficult”, it’s a leap into the unknown for Sad Cat Studio which has never produced anything so far, and player expectations are high. In order to satisfy them without distorting their vision of the game and overloading the teams, the studio has therefore taken the decision to postpone Replaced.

However, good news, the development before well. Sad Cat Studio explains that most of the functionality is in place, and he now sets out to create assetswhich takes a lot of time. He takes the example of the main character, who has over 500 hand-drawn animations just for the platforming phases. A colossal job for the small team, which is progressing slowly but surely.

Replaced is therefore expected next year, still on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and in the Game Pass. You can subscribe to the version Ultimate For €12.99 per month through Amazon.
