“Out of 165 professionals and training establishments checked, nearly 80% presented at least one anomaly concerning the information delivered to consumers in terms of skills, professional titles and rewarding mentions“, detailed the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF) in a statement released Thursday. The inspections carried out over the last two years have given rise to 71 warnings, 59 injunctions and a criminal report, according to the same source, which specifies that the majority of the professionals concerned quickly brought themselves into compliance.

The DGCCRF survey targeted training centres, internet pages and in particular the specialties “in connection with physiological balance or mental balance (stress management, weight loss, fight against certain addictions, etc.)and targeting seniors, according to the DGCCRF. In 20% of cases, the DGCCRF found misleading commercial practices, such as highlighting qualifications not held – in the case of a magnetizer for example – or maintaining confusion with medicine with the use terms such as “consultation” Or “doctor», all these practices being able to «go so far as to cause a loss of medical opportunity for consumers“. More than half of the professionals inspected were also unaware of the regulations on the prices of their services.
