Faced with the spread of the virus, the government has promised measures that could apply for the start of the 2020 school year. The City of Paris has already identified additional premises where classes could be held.
On the eve of the start of the school year, various measures have been taken to limit the spread of the virus. Heavily affected by the coronavirus, Île-de-France could see its back to school period upset.
Special measures
According to the president of the scientific council, Jean-François Delfraissy, the city of Paris is mainly concerned by these measures since “this is where there is work, where there are as many children and transport as possible”.
“As we speak, there may be special measures for Paris or for the Bouches-du-Rhône, where the circulation of the virus is more importante "explains the Minister of Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer in a video published on the website of the Ministry of National Education.
The Paris municipality is trying to anticipate as much as possible by identifying additional premises such as gymnasiums, conservatories and libraries in order to prevent children from finding themselves gathered in closed places.
In addition, the city of Paris is ready to recruit more professionals in this sector, in particular temporary facilitators in order to more easily distribute groups of students in the adjoining premises and avoid the emergence of clusters.
“There will be cluster schools and classes”
Barrier measures will have to be followed to the letter in order to avoid the emergence of clusters. As for school principals, they explain that social distancing would only accommodate 50% of students.
However, Jean François Delfraissy, president of the scientific council, admits the possibility “ of contamination at school, children will become infected and some teachers too, there will be schools and cluster classes"Insisting that it is essential that school resumes.
