RER: strike threat on Friday, the day of the Top 14 final

In total, lines A, B, C, D of the RER as well as lines H, J, K, L and R of the Transilien should be disrupted next Friday.

This Friday is rugby day with the Top 14 final between Castres and Montpellier at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis. But the event risks being disrupted by a strike on lines B and D of the RER which serve the lair of the kings of sport. There will therefore only be line 13 of the metro that fans of the oval ball will be able to take without risk of disruption. This social movement is to be taken into consideration because it is triggered by the call of the most representative SNCF unions among drivers (CGT, Sud-Rail, FO, Unsa, CFDT).

And no one has forgotten the chaos caused by the strike by RATP drivers on RER B on the day of the Champions League final on Saturday 28 May. This had led to a massive postponement of travelers on the RER D, jostling at the gates of the stadium and sometimes muscular intervention by the police, overwhelmed by these thousands of people who were stamping impatiently to see the match. The executive does not want to relive this experience which led to wondering if France was ready to organize the Olympic Games in Paris in two years, in 2024.

This time, the reasons for the stoppage invoked by these unions are multiple: first, they complain about the incessant changes in the schedule which undermine the privacy of the drivers because these modifications occur until the day before the start of the service due to extensive work on the lines. Then, the staff demand salary increases to take inflation into account. If the unions are launching this call for a strike a few days before an event as media-friendly as a Top 14 final, it is in the hope that the SNCF will give them satisfaction on a few points. They could then lift this notice. Note that this strike also concerns RER A and C, as well as Transilien lines (H, J, K, L and R).
