The French company Upway specializes in the refurbishment of used e-bikes. After the VanMoof bankruptcy, they now want to take care of their customers.

- The refurbishment company Upway wants to take care of the repair and service of VanMoof bikes after VanMoof’s bankruptcy.
- This includes the collection, inspection and, if necessary, repair of the e-bike.
- It starts on September 1st in Germany, France and also in VanMoof’s home country of the Netherlands.
The bankruptcy of the Dutch e-bike manufacturer VanMoof did not come out of the blue for insiders, but it did for many customers. Since VanMoof uses many special parts for its e-bikes such as the S3 (test report) or the current S5/A5 (test report), questions about service and repairs arose.
All branches were closed overnight, customers stood in front of closed doors, and suddenly it was no longer possible to book a repair or service appointment. The company Upway now wants to take care of the matter.
We have already examined the company’s service in detail when we placed a test order for a used e-bike. Now they’re working with VanMoof.

“The VanMoof team trained our mechanics and gave us direct access to their tailor-made spare parts. We find it particularly important that e-bikes and suitable software solutions such as apps are always created with the customer in mind. That means for us that spare parts can be ordered and installed by conventional workshops and that the software application is designed in such a way that it can be used sustainably,” says an Upway statement available to Netzwelt.
Upway has already gained experience in repairing VanMoof bikes in the past and now wants to deepen this further.

Download digital e-bike key
VanMoof bike owners are urged to download their digital e-bike key. This can be done, for example, with the “Bikey” app (available for download) developed by competitor Cowboy. Because if the VanMoof servers are to be shut down in the foreseeable future, the e-bikes will no longer function.
