Emmanuel Macron’s first five-year term will officially end tonight at midnight. According to Matignon, Jean Castex still remains Prime Minister this weekend and will travel to the Vatican. The suspense still hovers around the name of the next Prime Minister, who will probably be revealed on Monday.

Indeed, Jean Castex will go to the Vatican on Sunday as Prime Minister. He will meet Pope Francis before attending the canonization ceremony of ten Blesseds, including three Frenchmen: Charles de Foucauld, César de Bus and Marie Rivier.
The Prime Minister will therefore not announce his resignation by this weekend. The resignation will not take place before his return to Paris on Sunday evening.
