This week, Capcom decided to take a quick tour of future projects for its favorite license. And beautiful things await us on the side of resident Evil.

During this presentation, the Japanese publisher focused its communication around two major games in the saga.

Back to town

First of all, we were able to (re)see additional content for Resident Evil Village. The package Winters will land on October 28, 2022 on all media. It contains the third person mode (which will not allow to see the hero’s head clearly), the mode Mercenaries – New Missions and the DLC titled Rose’s shadows. The latter will follow the daughter of Ethan Winters during a story that takes place 16 years after that of the eighth opus.

Note that this pack will be sold separately for game owners, while being included in Resident Evil Village Gold Edition which will also be released on October 28. A demo of this version is available now. It allows you to play for an hour a portion of the game in third or first person view.

Definitely, a lot will happen on October 28th! Indeed, it is also on this date that Resident Evil Village will arrive on Mac and Nintendo Switch (in cloud version). Capcom also reminded us that a PlayStation VR2 version is in development. The title will be playable in 4K and will take advantage of all the features of Sony’s VR headset, which isn’t expected until next year.

An extremely promising remake

But it’s quite logically the remake of Resident Evil 4 who was expected at the turn during this showcase… And Capcom clearly did not disappoint! The project was illustrated through an unprecedented gameplay sequence (see IGN’s preview at this address), which showed that the first minutes of Leon Kennedy’s adventures have been completely reworked. The atmosphere is much darker, and the famous first house of the village, much larger.

The enemies of this opus (the Ganados) will have new attacks, and Leon will be able to perform new movements in combat. The inventory system has been kept, and the merchant will make a comeback with a brand new item exchange mechanism. A final trailer came to conclude the presentation.

Resident Evil 4 will launch on March 24, 2023 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Owners of the PlayStation 4 version will be able to get the PlayStation 5 version at no additional cost. Pre-orders open today, and a collector’s edition is on the program.
