Resident Evil 4 Remake is due out in 2023 and some interesting info is starting to trickle out. The last concerns its lifespan. This new version will not be longer than the original, but not shorter either.
After Resident Evil 2 in 2019 and Resident Evil 3 in 2020, it’s Resident Evil 4’s turn to have the right to its remake. Last week, a lot of information was revealed about the title. The latest concerns its lifespan.
It is in the columns of PC Gamer that Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, the producer of the game, revealed some interesting data. When asked about his baby’s lifespan, he replied:
“When we started working on RE4, we looked at what people liked about previous remakes, and what we could do even better. An example is the lifespan of RE4, which is roughly similar to the original game.
Resident Evil 4 will take a long time to complete
Like their models, the RE2 and 3 remakes take less than five hours to complete. Resident Evil 4, on the other hand, had a longer lifespan. In fact, it was necessary fifteen hours to complete it. If the creator is to be believed, this will also be the case for this new iteration. From what we saw of it during the Resident Evil Showcase, this remake will be very faithful to the original title. However, it will not be just a simple graphic smoothing without touching the gameplay, as was the case for Diablo 2 Resurrected or The Last of Us Part I, but a reinvention of the title.

We can therefore assume that certain passages will be added, revamped, or that entire sections of the base game are simply removed. Either way, it will take time to complete.
As a reminder, Resident Evil 4 was released in 2005, first on Gamecube and then on other consoles. A real revolution at the time, it had laid new foundations for the saga, in addition to imposing a model in the action game thanks to its very innovative shoulder-mounted camera. The remake will resume this gameplay, while taking care to modernize it. Expected release in 2023.
