Resident Evil: Survival Horror is coming to Netflix as a live action series

The survival horror of "Resident Evil" continues – as a series. Netflix and Constantin Film are working together to achieve this.

Fans of the video games and film series can look forward to new supplies: "Resident Evil" is coming to Netflix as a real-life series. The streaming provider and Constantin Film announced this on Thursday (August 27). Constantin Film produces the series. Accordingly, eight episodes of 60 minutes each are initially planned. It is still unclear when these will appear with which cast.

"If the Wesker children are drawn to New Raccoon City, the secrets they uncover could simply be the end of it all," Netflix announced the new production via Twitter. Like the films before, it should also be inspired by Capcom's survival horror video game series of the same name. The story is told on two time levels.

Survival horror in New Raccoon City

The first timeline is about the two 14-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker, who quickly discover that their new home, New Raccoon City, is more than it initially seems. Her father also has dark secrets that could destroy the world. In the second time level, the now 30-year-old Jade is the focus. Less than 15 million people live on earth, but more than six billion monsters. Jade struggles to survive as secrets from the past keep catching up with her.

The scripts for the new "Resident Evil" series come from "Supernatural" writer Andrew Dabb, who will also be working as a producer at the same time. "The Walking Dead" director Bronwem Hughes (52) directs the first two episodes.
