The day after the resignation of Élisabeth Borne, negotiations to form the future government team continue this Tuesday. The head of state tried to appoint the current Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal, to Matignon but this hypothesis does not seem to delight everyone.

Élisabeth Borne submitted her letter of resignation to Emmanuel Macron on Monday. If the Minister of National Education and Youth Gabriel Attal is expected to succeed him, the official appointment of the new Prime Minister is still slow to be announced. For what ?

François Bayrou and Richard Ferrand opt for Julien Denormandie

If Emmanuel Macron is certain of wanting a new incarnation at Matignon, his decision has not been definitively made. His preference is for Gabriel Attal, 34, but behind the scenes, François Bayrou and Richard Ferrand have expressed to the President their reservations about the young Minister of National Education.

The head of MoDem and the former president of the National Assembly maintained their initial position. Their foal is called Julien Denormandie, the former Minister of Agriculture, and it is him that they would like to see at Matignon. Enough to somewhat instill doubt in the complex presidential thinking.

Emmanuel Macron should assume his choice

Unless there is a surprise, Emmanuel Macron should however assume his choice by appointing Gabriel Attal. A slight setback which can also be explained by the desire to control everything. According to information from Europe 1, beyond the reflection on the personalities who will make up the future government, the Head of State focuses on the composition of the cabinet of the future Prime Minister. “He wants to have a complete system […] with competent and quality people”, explains a close friend of the President. Also a way for Emmanuel Macron to remind once again that he is still the master of the clocks.
