“Resources almost exhausted”: Biden releases further military aid for Ukraine

“Resources almost exhausted”
Biden releases more military aid to Ukraine

A new US aid package is to procure more military equipment for Ukraine. But US President Biden is also sending an urgent warning to his own Congress. More money is needed to defend the “frontline of freedom”.

US President Joe Biden has approved more billions in military aid for Ukraine to defend against the Russian war of aggression. An additional package will provide the country with more artillery ammunition, radars and other equipment, Biden announced. A $150 million (around €142 million) package has been approved, the US State Department said.

At the same time, the US President warned: “With today’s announcement, my administration has almost exhausted the funds that can be used for the deployment of security support by the evacuation authorities to Ukraine.” He called on the US Congress to release further requested billions in aid.

Since the beginning of the war at the end of February, the United States has promised or already delivered arms and ammunition worth more than 3.8 billion US dollars (around 3.6 billion euros) to the former Soviet republic with the new package alone. Biden has also asked Congress for an additional $33 billion in military aid and humanitarian assistance.

“The United States has provided Ukraine with historic levels of security assistance in a very short time,” said the US President. Send weapons and equipment directly to the “Frontlines of Freedom”. For Ukraine to continue to be successful, international partners, including the US, must continue to demonstrate unity and determination.
