Respawn abandons multiplayer for a solo FPS game

Already busy with Star Wars Jedi Survivor, the Respawn Entertainment studio is working on a totally solo game under the Apex Legends banner. As usual, these are job offers that tell us everything.

Not fans of multiplayer games but Apex Legends attracts you? Respawn Entertainment has the solution. The studio is developing a brand new title in this universe.

A 100% single-player Apex Legends game

Apex Legends is not about to die out. With a hit season 13 and more than 2 billion in revenue, the multiplayer shooter from EA and Respawn Entertainment is at the top. And when a vein is good, why not continue to exploit it?

Two new job offers, for a hard surface artist and a senior engine/system engineer, reveal a new project. A single-player FPS game in this universe.

We are looking for a talented and experienced hardsurface 3D artist to help develop an all-new Respawn single-player adventure. This new single-player title is a developer’s dream playground, with the freedom to innovate through the unique universe. Our popular cross-platform games have always had a “fun first” mantra, with the principle that great ideas can come from anyone, allowing creativity to flow and developers to shape the game in different meaningful ways.

The direct reference to the game is in the second announcement. Namely that the teams need a system engineer for a “FPS title in the Apex Legends universe in the making”.

In a completely different register, but still for solitary pleasure, Respawn Entertainment is putting its strengths into the development of Star Wars Jedi Survivor. The famous “Jedi Fallen Order 2” which will be exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
