This announcement, made by Bit Reactor on Twitter, comes after the disappointing news regarding the cancellation of Respawn’s first-person shooter.
The past week has been marked by difficult times for the video game industry, exacerbated by the close ties between Bit Reactor and the Respawn teams. However, despite this turbulence and the recent layoffs at publisher Electronic Arts, Bit Reactor reassures that their Star Wars strategy game project has not been impacted and that development continues actively.

Few details have been revealed about this strategy game announced in 2022, alongside Respawn’s now canceled Star Wars FPS. Note, however, that Greg Foertsch, CEO of Bit Reactor, notably worked at Firaxis, known in particular for XCOM and Civilization. The man even explained at the end of 2023 that he wanted to be inspired by the success of Baldur’s Gate 3. Without getting too far ahead, we can therefore imagine a game similar to XCOM. This is what the rumors seem to indicate, but it is still possible that it is a more classic RTS.
