Swiss voters have decided on two national proposals. Here you can find the results by municipality.

No to the reform of occupational pensions

Years of reform work on the second pillar have failed. The electorate rejected the proposal for the BVG reform with 67 percent of the votes against.

A look at the voting map shows a rare unity: all cantons rejected the proposal. The proportion of no votes ranged from 57 percent in Zug to 77 percent in Jura and Neuchâtel. In around fifty municipalities, the no vote was over 81 percent. Only 26 of 2126 municipalities supported the pension fund reform.

No to the biodiversity initiative

Voters in Switzerland do not want any additional efforts to increase biodiversity. However, cities and the country are divided on whether more support measures are needed. Several cities accepted the initiative, some with considerable support.

Overall, the biodiversity initiative was rejected with 63 percent of the votes. Only two cantons – Geneva with around 51 percent and Basel-Stadt with almost 58 percent – voted in favor. The canton of Schwyz had the largest proportion of no votes, with almost 77 percent.

The proportion of no votes varied considerably at the community level: the Valais community of Gondo-Zwischbergen gave the initiative the cold shoulder: all 31 voters in the village rejected it. The Uri communities of Unterschächen and Spiringen also had no votes of more than 95 percent. In contrast, the initiative received some strong support from the cities of German-speaking and western Switzerland: Bern said yes with 68 percent and Lausanne and Basel with around 60 percent each. However, the cities in the canton of Ticino said no.
