Resuscitation unsuccessful – Lower Austria: climber (69) died in a tour accident

A 69-year-old died on a climbing tour in Lower Austria on Saturday. Around noon, he and a 58-year-old friend climbed the “Hahnenkamm” route in the Peilstein climbing area in the Baden district in the “Kleiner Zinnenkessel” area. They climbed over the ridge to the belay of the “solar eclipse” route and secured themselves.

As a result, the 69-year-old fell about 15 meters unbraked to the bottom of the small battlement basin during the intended descent due to a climbing problem through no fault of his own, sustaining serious injuries only death can be determined.
