Lhe way Emmanuel Macron has managed the pension file since his arrival at the Élysée in 2017 will go down in history as a counter-model of the method to be followed to carry out structural reforms. While the work of economists emphasizes that these must be carried out at the very beginning of a mandate to take advantage of the momentum of the election, it was after interminable and sterile consultations that a first draft of a regime at points had ended up being worked out. Totally incomprehensible to ordinary mortals, this system had been preferred to simple parametric age deferral measures, as proposed today by the government, but which at the time Emmanuel Macron himself considered unsatisfactory and unfair.
