Bold looks, blatant colors and above all: a lot of healthy self-esteem! That’s what makes the 80s so special. But how do we get the 80s back in our closet today?

The looks almost 40 years ago were incredibly versatile. For most of the people, curls and long hair are an absolute must in addition to the fancy clothes, also for the men of the generation. Rock stars like Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses or Queen exemplify their look with leather jackets and blue jeans; the Hollywood starlets ensure more elegant and edgy looks with puff sleeves and balloon dresses on the streets. Here are a few tips on how to bring the flair of the 80s back into your wardrobe.

Shoulder pads and pure business

The many colors can be perfectly presented in a business look! The blazers with shoulder pads can also be more neutral, for example in gray or white, brown or in a chic houndstooth pattern. Jackets with shoulder pads were often used in the eighties. For example on the way to work, which is slowly but surely becoming the norm for many women. Popular looks are, for example, a combination of a blouse and a high-waisted skirt. But also complete costumes and trouser suits enrich the women’s world.

Denim all the way!

Blue jeans aren’t the only thing everyone suddenly wants to wear! Denim jackets, shirts and skirts are also conquering the fashion scene. Especially popular: Washed-out denim patterns in the so-called “acid wash” look – and we can still find this look in many fashion shops today. Matching your new favorite pair of jeans: A plain white shirt and of course a denim jacket.

Colorful and radiantly beautiful

Bright colors and neon in all forms: Not uncommon for the 80s look. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a bright orange blazer with a simple combination of jeans and sweater – or neon pink leggings with a chic black lace top with an elegant jacket. The looks of the 80s can still be wonderfully combined today. Above all, we should always be aware that a little color in the mirror often gives us a small smile.

Rock’n’Roll of the 80’s

Leather jackets are a very welcome alternative to the jeans look. The rock stars show the world how to do it: leather pants, leather jackets – and Converse or high heels, whether male or female. Androgynous looks such as those by pop icon Annie Lennox also inspire the masses. If one thing is certain, it’s this: in the 80s, fashion is an important expression of one’s personality.

Prefer just the style without new clothes?

Waves, curls and scrunchies are all ’80s staples, so if you just want to adapt a bit for the theme party, a hot iron and a few YouTube tutorials might be the best way to go. Important for the look: a lot of volume! For 80’s makeup, it can go bold and colorful to match the fashion you’ve chosen. You can definitely try neon pink eyeshadow or bright red lips with the 80s look.
