BERLIN, July 15 (Reuters) – Lufthansa on Friday reported a return to profitability in the second quarter and revenue more than doubled in the period compared to a year ago.

The German airline posted revenue of around 8.5 billion euros, up from 3.2 billion euros a year earlier in the same period, preliminary figures for the second quarter show.

“The group benefited from a continued strong performance at Lufthansa Cargo,” the group said in a statement.

Adjusted cash flow amounted to nearly 2 billion euros, thanks in particular to the sharp increase in reservations, said Lufthansa.

The operating result (Ebit) is between 350 and 400 million euros, against a loss of 827 million euros a year ago.

On the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, the company’s title gained 6.46% around 2:05 p.m. GMT. (Miranda Murray, French version Laetitia Volga, edited by Sophie Louet)
