The German national player Toni Kroos is ending his career after the European Football Championship this summer.

One last highlight and then it’s over: Toni Kroos is hanging up his football boots after the European Championships in Germany. The 34-year-old, who has been under contract with Real Madrid since 2014, announced his decision on Tuesday in his podcast “Einfach mal Luppen”.

“I am happy and proud that I found the right time in my head for my decision and was able to decide for myself,” wrote the midfield strategist on Instagram. Before that, Kroos will play the Champions League final with Real against BVB on June 1st.

DFB comeback thanks to Nagelsmann

Kroos has played over 300 league games for Real. With the Madrilenians he won the Champions League four times and was champion four times. Before that, he also celebrated great successes with Bayern Munich, and he also won the Champions League with the Munich team.

So far, Kroos has made 108 appearances in the DFB jersey. After the 2021 European Championships, he actually ended his national team career, but national coach Julian Nagelsmann convinced him to make a comeback before the home European Championships.
