FA major figure in the Iranian opposition in exile, Prince Reza Pahlavi, 62, eldest son of the last shah (emperor), is determined to embody an alternative to the Islamic regime in power for forty-four years in Tehran. These days, the prince plays a key role in efforts by opposition movements to rally around a common charter, as a massive protest movement rocks Iran. The demonstrations, repressed in blood by the regime (nearly 500 dead), followed the death in detention, last September, of the young Mahsa Amini, arrested for a headscarf “badly worn”.
