Fourteen firefighters were dispatched late Friday morning to the parking lot of the Ibis hotel opposite the woman-mother-child hospital in Bron, where four cars were in flames. The fire broke out, avenue du Doyen-Jean-Lépine, in Bron, near the ring road.
A large plume of smoke was also visible from the expressway, according to a video posted on social networks. The disaster was “in the process of being extinguished” shortly before noon, according to the firefighters.
If this black cloud could be impressive from the ring road located right next to it, the damage is only material.
For reasons that have yet to be determined, a car caught fire around 11:30 a.m. at 37, avenue du Doyen-Jean-Lépine. The flames then spread to three other vehicles parked nearby, in the parking lot of the Ibis Lyon Est Bron hotel.
Security officers from the Civil Hospitals of Lyon (HCL) immediately went to the scene. The firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, while the national police secured the scene.
The fire caused no injuries. The owner of the car that caused the fire did not need to be taken care of by the fire brigade.
Less than an hour after the start of the incident, a tow truck was on site to remove the carcasses and clear the way.
