And they confirm this Tuesday based on data collected thanks to the Coyotte community, via the boxes on board the vehicles. And so, almost exactly a month (it was March 30) after the installation of the markings on the ground and the road signs, the first elements suggest that there would not really be any difference. “A violent impact on the wallet”

“While the average speed before the measure was implemented was 25.6 km/h, it is now 24.7 km/h. There is therefore no significant impact of the lowering of the speed limit on the speeds actually practiced by users”. On the other hand, we specify on the side of the association, “the measure could have a violent impact on the wallets of motorists”.

Results, analyzes Pierre Chasseray, general delegate of the association, which are in conformity with those which one could observe in the other cities passed recently to 30 km/h. And which does not surprise him more than that. Average speeds are already low due to traffic jams. For Daniel Quéro, leader of the same association, “driving below 30 km/h is simply untenable with our current vehicles”.

And to worry: “we place motorists illegally driving at 31 or 32 km/h, when we cannot decently say that they are showing dangerous or irresponsible behavior! “, indicates the leader who evokes the project of the mayor of Lyon to install “not less than a hundred radars” in the streets of Lyon.

The danger is indeed an element that the elected Greens have in mind. Recalling that in 2019, 17 pedestrians were killed on the roads of the Métropole de Lyon in accidents with motorized vehicles. The idea, they argue, is therefore to “reduce accidents”.
