Bezons, the 14 March 2022 – 8:00 a.m. – As part of the “Recovery plan for industry – strategic sectors” call for projects, initiated by the Ministry for Industry, RIBER, the world leader in molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) equipment for the semiconductor industry, obtained public aid for financing of its pilot line 300mm.
ROSIE is a unique platform that allows the epitaxy of perovskite materials and more particularly BTO/STO on silicon. This configuration makes it possible to address the building block of several emerging applications including electro-optical modulators, electric vehicles, beyond CMOS or quantum computing.
The subsidy from the French State in the amount of 1.1 million euros increases the resources of RIBER dedicated to the implementation of the ROSIE pilot line which aims to provide the material and human resources to the actors of the sector for producing small series, demonstrators and proofs of concept.
Based on the ultra-high vacuum deposition technique and compatible with semiconductor industry standards (300 millimeters), ROSIE will be dedicated to the deposition of very thin films of epitaxial materials on silicon and will offer monatomic precision in terms of control. on a slice of 300mm.
ROSIE represents an overall industrial investment of 3 million euros over a period of 3 years. A real development lever for photonics on silicon, it will contribute to meeting the current challenges of the integration and convergence of semiconductor industries (silicon, III-V) to design new microprocessors that go beyond current technological limitations and offer extremely high switching speed properties with near-zero optical losses. The ROSIE pilot line, which should be operational at the end of 2023, has already received several expressions of interest from customers in Europe and the United States.
ROSIE is the perfect illustration that the industry is a source of solutions to meet the strategic challenges of tomorrow. It is also a concrete example of support from the French government in the most promising areas of the productive fabric in France.
