Riccardo Simonetti made a clear statement against homophobia with his look at the MTV EMAs award ceremony in Budapest.

Riccardo Simonetti (28) made a clear statement with his look at the MTV EMAs 2021. “The names that I wore as painted tattoos are names of queer people who were brutally killed around the world in the last year (!),” Writes the entertainer in an Instagram post. “I hope when I walk the red carpet in a country with such a difficult situation for the queer community, people will pay attention and understand that homophobia and transphobia is dangerous and kills and how important it is to rethink.”

The LGBTI special ambassador for the EU Parliament also posted a clip of his appearance on the red carpet. For the occasion, Simonetti, who presented the “Best German Act” and “Best Swiss Act” categories, wore a black leather corsage with a glittering cape in the colors of the rainbow.

Among other things, Viktoria Radvanyi, an LGBTQ activist, was honored at the music award ceremony. With the “Generation Change” award, the organizer showed its solidarity with the LGBTQ movement in Hungary. The right-wing national government of Hungary under Prime Minister Viktor Orban (58) pursues a policy openly directed against homosexuals.
