In February 2021, in the columns of World, Coline Berry-Rojtman had created fear by declaring that she had been the victim of sexual violence at the hands of her father, Richard Berry and Jeane Mason. The alleged events took place when she was a minor between 1984 and 1985 at the home of her father, who then lived with Jeane Manson. Tuesday, December 5, 2023, the Court of Cassation overturned the conviction of Coline Berry-Rojtman for defamation against her ex-mother-in-law Jeane Manson and referred the case to the Lyon Court of Appeal. On December 9, the alleged victim went to the set of BFMTV to react to this court decision. “I am relieved, but vigilant because there will be a new call”she declared before adding: “It was amazing that someone could file a complaint against me when I simply denounced facts of which I was a victim”. Concerning the complaint filed by Coline Berry-Rojtman against her father whom she accuses of incest, it was dismissed on August 31, 2022 due to statute of limitations.
Richard Berry could face justice
“Even if facts are prescribed, they can be qualified. For me, they were qualified”reacted the accuser. “There are two things, his denial and the facts. I live with the facts despite everything and I build myself with them, as best I can, in pain. For his denials, I reached out to him dozens of times”she declared again to return to the fact that her father, the actor Richard Berry, has always denied the facts with which he is accused. “I no longer expect anything from my father”, continued the young woman. She was accompanied by her lawyer, Me Patrick Klugman, on the set of BFMTV. His counsel explained that there was still “civil road”. “When criminal action is prescribed, we look at whether the damage suffered in childhood has ceased to have effects. There is an important decision from the Paris court which considered that, the damage not being consolidated , the civil action remained open”, he explained. Thus, the liability of Richard Berry or Jeanne Manson could be engaged before a civil court while the damage which would weigh on Coline Berry-Rojtman would be persistent. Richard Berry and Jeane Mason are presumed innocent of the charges against them.
