Rick and Morty: Is Zack Snyder making a film based on the cult series?

Dan Harmon is primarily familiar with the world of television, but now the producer of series like “Community” and “Rick and Morty” is working directly on feature films based on both TV hits. However, the “Rick and Morty” film plans are still quite vague, as there is no script, as Harmon revealed to The Hollywood Reporter.

However, there have already been discussions with Warner Bros. and they have already agreed on the direction the film should take. Harmon summarizes the plan as follows:

My philosophy would be to just take a Rick and Morty adventure, spend a bunch of extra money on it and [den Film] To do for 90 minutes. Not to try to achieve feature film status through canonical dramatic tonal shifts or anything like that, but to just make a super awesome episode of Rick and Morty.

Zack Snyder wants to help

Harmon had already had a meeting at Warner Bros., although not with the film studio’s producers, but with Zack Snyder. The director of “Sucker Punch” and “Rebel Moon” is a big fan of the series himself and simply wanted to offer his help if his “Snyder-ness” could somehow help the project move forward more quickly. Harmon jokes:

So the Rick and Morty movie is coming as soon as Zack Snyder gets back from his vacation because I want to start with a Snyder Cut of the movie and then do a director’s cut of the Snyder Cut release so we can have a six hour Rick and Morty movie -Morty movie, three hours of which are in black and white.

If a live-action “Rick and Morty” film were to be made one day, Zack Snyder would certainly be willing to direct it. Until then, Dan Harmon is relying on the series’ tried-and-tested team – without Justin Roiland, of course.

The 7th season of “Rick and Morty”, which starts on October 15, 2023 in the USA, is far from the end of the series. If Harmon has his way, there could be 100 seasons; the series is designed to run for a long time. However, he has already thought of a possible ending point for the story:

Maybe Morty turns 15 and finds a girlfriend who makes him want to be an independent person, so everything is kind of destroyed because Morty just wants to be a teenager now and grow up. Yes, maybe Morty’s 15th birthday would be the catastrophic sinking of the Titanic!
